Read the selected final-stand range
The detailed Utah section gives one to two inches between plants and ten to twelve inches between rows. The editable example selects two by twelve inches. The guide’s introductory summary is broader; this record consistently uses the detailed section.
Start with an amount you can use
Measure a small row or bed section before filling an entire bed with points. The layout can support a succession plan by giving each short sowing its own area. Keep later batches out of the occupied section until it is actually free.
Make room by thinning
Closely emerged seedlings do not define the final root count. Use the chosen stand as a thinning target and check the variety before overriding it. The calculator cannot predict root size from plant positions alone.

Small-root radishes
Use the detailed source spacing for ordinary small roots. Large daikon and winter storage radishes need other settings.
Source range: 1–2 in between plants; 10–12 in between rows.
This example selects distances within the cited range. Change them for a reviewed variety or method and retain the override in your plan.
Questions growers ask
Why is the dense seed line not the final plant count?
Seedlings are thinned to create room for roots. The planner counts retained plants at the chosen spacing, while the quantity tool estimates the seed input.
