Beet succession planting plan

The selected beet plan repeats sowings every two weeks and uses an explicit first-frost boundary. Keep the final plant target separate from the number of beet seed units.

When enabled, the earlier of your end date and the source reference sets the last possible batch. Turn it off only to make a deliberate custom schedule.

3 sowing batches

Root harvest · 14 days

  1. Batch 1 Direct sow
  2. Batch 2 Direct sow
  3. Batch 3 Direct sow

The end date is inclusive. Cross-year schedules keep the correct calendar year.

Next would be May 13, 2027; it is after your end date and is excluded.

The source stopping reference (Aug 20, 2027) is applied. Your own earlier end date still takes priority.

Sources and conditions

The chosen cutoff is the succession chart’s first-frost rule. It is not the Maryland guide’s different first-killing-frost rule.

  • The succession source assumes standard growing practices. Variety, heat, daylight and protection can change useful sowing dates.

This is the source chart’s latest-sowing reference under the stated conditions. It does not promise maturity or a harvest by that date.

These are source-specific stopping references. They are not a promise of harvest before frost. Review crop, variety and cover conditions.

Select one autumn reference

The succession chart supplies the interval and an eight-week-before-first-frost boundary. The Maryland guide uses different first-killing-frost wording. The planner preserves the selected anchor rather than treating those frost definitions as interchangeable.

A final batch on the boundary

With first frost entered as October 15, 2027, the chart boundary is August 20. A user start of July 23 produces July 23, August 6 and August 20 at fourteen-day intervals. A stricter user end date can remove the last batch.

Plan for thinning and seed clusters

Assign each batch a section of the wide-bed layout. Beet seed units may produce multiple seedlings, so review the packet before interpreting a seed estimate. Harvesting thinnings does not add more mature-root positions to the final stand.

Questions growers ask

Can an end date exactly on the source boundary be included?

Yes. The planner uses an inclusive end date. A batch that falls exactly on the selected boundary is included, while a later one is excluded.
