Beet planting calendar and growing plan
Beets can be direct sown or produced as transplants in the selected references. Their clustered seeds and the chosen wide-bed layout deserve separate attention when estimating quantities.

Sowing windows combine possible transplant dates. Choose a paired transplant date to narrow the nursery window. Wait for suitable soil and local conditions.
Direct sowing and transplanting are alternative ways to start a crop. Keep the tasks that match your method.
Sources and conditions
The chart offers beet transplant production as an option, with a nursery range before setting out.
- These are reviewed planning references. Check the variety, local soil and weather before acting; a frost date is not a forecast.
- The seed-starting chart includes a transplant method; it does not replace the direct-sowing option.
Beet transplanting is an available sourced method here, even though many gardeners direct sow.

This is the Utah semi-hardy spring reference, not a conversion of the Maryland guide’s unspecified “several weeks.”

Choose the establishment route
The calendar includes a sourced beet nursery option alongside direct sowing. Use one action sequence for a batch so the same planned plants are not counted twice.
Use the bed system consistently
The spacing preset uses equal final distances in both directions from the Maryland wide-bed method. It is not a narrow row with a separate walking aisle between each plant line.
Check what a seed unit means
Many beet seed units contain more than one embryo. Thinning still determines the final stand. Record packet-specific seed information when interpreting the quantity estimate.
Questions growers ask
Why does another guide show a later autumn date?
The selected succession chart refers to first frost, while the Maryland guide uses first killing frost. Those are different anchors and must not be silently combined.
Sources and conditions
These sources describe particular climates and growing methods. Use the conditions alongside the numbers.
General nursery and setting-out reference, using a user-supplied spring frost-free date. Nursery duration is measured before setting out.
General intervals under standard growing practices. Crop purpose and protected-cover exceptions matter; these are not harvest guarantees.
Wide-bed beet spacing. Its first-killing-frost wording differs from the selected succession chart’s first-frost reference.
The semi-hardy group supplies the beet spring reference. Published city dates remain regional and are not imported.
