Choose a matching interval and purpose
The selected chart uses ten-day spacing between full-head sowings and seven-day spacing for baby leaves. Keep the option attached to every batch so a later spacing edit does not leave the wrong harvest purpose in the calendar.
An autumn example with a stated anchor
If you enter October 15, 2027 as first frost, the chart’s full-head boundary is August 20 and its baby-leaf boundary is September 17. These are last-sowing references, not promised harvest dates. The baby-leaf rule explicitly excludes extensions made with protected cover.
Allocate a bed section to each batch
For a user-selected full-head start of July 21, ten-day batches fall on July 21, July 31, August 10 and August 20 before that boundary. An earlier user end date shortens the list. Reserve enough space for the batches that will be growing together.
Questions growers ask
Can I keep a fourteen-day interval from an older plan?
Yes. Save it as a user override, keep the chosen harvest purpose and review its end date. Fourteen days is not the selected chart default for either lettuce option.
Sources and conditions
These sources describe particular climates and growing methods. Use the conditions alongside the numbers.
General nursery and setting-out reference, using a user-supplied spring frost-free date. Nursery duration is measured before setting out.
General intervals under standard growing practices. Crop purpose and protected-cover exceptions matter; these are not harvest guarantees.
Lettuce-specific harvest stages and final spacing are selected from the guide; chicory instructions are not transferred to lettuce.
